أعلنت بورصة لندن للمعادن في بيان يوم الاثنين أنها اعتمدت ميناء جدة السعودي كموقع لتسليم وتخزين النحاس والزنك. وسيصبح الإدراج ساري المفعول بعد ثلاثة أشهر من الموافقة على أول شركة مستودعات في الموقع الجديد.
وفي بيان آخر، ذكرت بورصة لندن أنها أجرت تعديلات على سياستها المتعلقة بالموافقة على المواقع كمراكز تسليم، فيما يخص حالات إفلاس المستودعات، بعد مشاورات.
في مارس الماضي، كشفت بورصة لندن عن نيتها إدراج مدينة جدة كمركز تسليم جديد للنحاس والزنك على ساحل البحر الأحمر، بشرط إجراء تعديل فني في نظام مواقع المستودعات بالبورصة. وقال الرئيس التنفيذي للبورصة، ماثيو تشامبرلين، إن السعودية تشهد زيادة في أهميتها كأحد المراكز العالمية للمعادن، وأن جدة تلبي بشكل كامل معايير التشغيل واللوجستيات لمواقع المستودعات الجديدة، بفضل استهلاك المعادن المتزايد فيها وشبكة النقل الفعالة.
تسعى المملكة العربية السعودية من خلال رؤية 2030 إلى تطوير قطاعها الصناعي والخدمات اللوجستية كجزء من خطة إصلاح شاملة، بهدف أن تصبح لاعباً رئيسياً عالمياً في الطاقة، التعدين، الخدمات اللوجستية، والصناعة.
تعتبر السعودية التعدين أحد أركان الصناعة الرئيسية إلى جانب النفط والغاز والبتروكيماويات، مما دفعها إلى تسريع تطوير البيئة التنظيمية لجذب الشركات العالمية للاستثمار في هذا القطاع. تقدر المملكة قيمة الثروات المعدنية غير المستغلة لديها بنحو 2.5 تريليون دولار (9.4 تريليون ريال). وقد سجلت السعودية أسرع نمو عالمي في تطوير بيئة الاستثمار في التعدين خلال السنوات الخمس الماضية، وفقاً لتقييم عالمي صادر عن "ماين هيوت" بالتعاون مع "مايننغ جورنال".
