تستضيف المملكة العربية السعودية النسخة التاسعة عشرة من منتدى الأمم المتحدة لحوكمة الإنترنت (IGF) في الرياض خلال الفترة من 15 إلى 19 ديسمبر. يهدف المنتدى إلى تعزيز التعاون الدولي وزيادة الوعي حول أهمية التنمية المستدامة للإنترنت، حسبما أفادت وكالة الأنباء السعودية (واس) يوم الأربعاء.
ستجمع الدورة الـ19 من المنتدى، التي ستُعقد في مركز الملك عبدالعزيز الدولي للمؤتمرات، أكثر من 10 آلاف مشارك من 160 دولة، مع حضور أكثر من ألف متحدث دولي، وتنظيم حوالي 300 جلسة وورشة عمل. يهدف المنتدى إلى مناقشة وصياغة السياسات الدولية لحوكمة الإنترنت من خلال التعاون بين الحكومات والقطاع الخاص والمنظمات غير الربحية.
تأسس المنتدى في عام 2006، وهو يهدف إلى تعزيز الفهم المشترك حول كيفية تحقيق أقصى استفادة من الفرص الرقمية والتعامل مع المخاطر والتحديات المرتبطة بها. كما يسعى المنتدى، الذي تنظمه الأمم المتحدة سنويًا، إلى معالجة قضايا السياسات المتعلقة بحوكمة الإنترنت، وتبادل المعرفة وأفضل الممارسات، ومعالجة التحديات الرقمية الجديدة.
