تسارعت وتيرة الانخفاض في السوق اليابانية بسبب ارتفاع قيمة الين الياباني، وهو العملة الأقوى اليوم، حيث ارتفع بنسبة 3.0-5.0% مقابل عملات مجموعة العشر الأخرى. هذا وانخفض زوج الدولار الأمريكي مقابل الين الياباني بنسبة 3.20% إلى 141.8000.
تتجه السوق اليابانية نحو أسوأ يوم تداول في تاريخ البورصة بالكامل. كما تسارعت وتيرة الانخفاض بسبب ذعر المستثمرين، حيث تم تعليق تداول العقود الآجلة لمؤشر نيكاي 225 مرتين بالفعل بسبب التوقف التلقائي. وارتفع مؤشر التقلب إلى مستوى قياسي جديد بلغ 132% ويشهد مؤشر توبكس الياباني أسوأ يوم له منذ عام 1987.
