ارتفعت أسهم شركة بريستول مايرز (BMY.US) بنسبة 4% قبل الجلسة الأخيرة لهذا الأسبوع في وول ستريت بعد أن حصلت الشركة المصنعة للأدوية على موافقة إدارة الغذاء والدواء الأمريكية على عقارها الجديد كوبينفا كعلاج للفصام لدى البالغين. وعلق المحللون بأن موافقة إدارة الغذاء والدواء قد تساعد بريستول في الموافقة على استحواذها على شركة كارونا ثيرابيوتيكس، وهو ما من شأنه نظريًا توسيع قدرات مبيعات شركة بي إم واي.
يتميز العقار الذي وافقت عليه إدارة الغذاء والدواء بأنه أول عقار مضاد للذهان يستهدف مستقبلات الكولين بدلاً من مستقبلات الدوبامين، وهو ما قد يكون أكثر أمانًا للمرضى في بعض المواقف. وهو أول عقار معتمد للفصام منذ 30 عامًا.
