- Indexes in Europe open higher
- Retail sales report from the Eurozone
- Central bankers' speeches
Futures contracts indicate a higher opening for the cash session in the Old Continent. At the opening, most market indexes are gaining in the range of 0.25-0.40%. In terms of macroeconomic publications, today is not very interesting. Probably the most important publication of the day has already been known, namely the inflation readings from the UK.
However, the speeches of bankers from central banks may prove particularly interesting. Representatives from both the Fed and the BoE will be speaking. In the case of the USA, the report showed an increase in inflation in January, resulting in a decrease in expectations for interest rate cuts in 2024. Bankers will certainly refer to the CPI data, revealing a bit of the current perspective of the Fed. At 03:00 PM GMT, the BoE Chairman, Bailey, will also speak. After today's lower readings from the UK, investors will be looking for clues on the impact of the report on the bank's policy.
