- European indices set for higher opening
- Canadian jobs data for August to be released at 1:30 pm BST
- Natural gas jumps as workers at Chevron LNG plant in Australia go on a strike
European index futures are pointing to a higher opening of the cash session on the Old Continent today, with DAX futures (DE30) trading slightly below 15,800 pts mark at press time. This comes in spite of a downbeat trading during the Asia-Pacific session, where the majority of regional indices finished lower. Natural gas prices (NATGAS) will be on watch today as employees at Chevron LNG facilities in Australia decided to go on a strike after negotiations failed to result in an agreement.
Economic calendar for today is light - Spanish industrial production reading for July at 8:00 am BST is the only noteworthy reading scheduled for the morning. German CPI data for August was released at 7:00 am BST but it was a final print and it did not trigger any market reaction. CAD may see some more volatility in the early afternoon as the Canadian jobs report will be released at 1:30 pm BST. Barr from Fed is the only central banker scheduled to speak today.
