Economic calendar: Ifo Index in Germany marks the beginning of a calm week

9:07 am 25 September 2023

  • Higher opening on the Old Continent markets
  • Germany's Ifo Index
  • Regional indices of the industry in the US

Futures on European indices indicate a slightly higher opening after the more significant declines at the end of last week. The DAX is trading 0.20% higher, and the Euro Stoxx 50 Index (EU50) is up by 0.25%. Both today and the entire week will be relatively calm compared to the intense past week. Investors will have plenty of time to recalculate the risk associated with higher interest rates after the statements of central bankers from last week.

Today, we will get to know the business sentiment index for September in Germany - the Ifo index. Another weak reading is expected at 85.2 - slightly lower than last month's 85.7. Later in the day, we will learn the regional reading of the Dallas bank for the industry. Regional readings allow us to estimate the ISM index in advance. This month, these readings are still at a low level, but slightly higher than last month - suggesting a slight rebound in the industry.
