- European indices open higher
- Second-tier data from Europe and Canada, Fed and ECB speakers
- Earnings reports from Walt Disney, Arista Networks and Nikola
European indices launched today's cash session higher, building onto previous yesterday's gains. German DAX trades 0.5% higher, French CAC40 gains 0.6%, while Spanish IBEX, Italian FTSE MIB and Dutch AEX add 0.7%. UK FTSE 100 rallies over 1%. This comes after strong gains were made on Wall Street yesterday and after a rather upbeat Asia-Pacific session earlier today. AUD is the worst performing G10 currency after RBA kept rates unchanged and left rate guidance unchanged.
Economic calendar for today is very light. Traders will be offered retail sales data for March from Europe area as well as Canadian Ivey PMI print for April in the afternoon. However, neither of the two tends to trigger any larger market moves. Energy traders will focus on API report on US oil inventories. Speeches from ECB and Fed members may offer some volatility on EUR- and USD-tied FX pairs. Among today's earnings highlights one can find reports from Walt Disney (DIS.US), Nikola (NKLA.US) and Arista Networks (ANET.US)
