Economic calendar: US new homes sales and Dallas Fed index in the market spotlight

10:18 am 26 February 2024

  • Futures market signal weaker sentiment on the European session
  • Mixed Friday's session on Wall Street, weaker Chinese indices
  • New home sales data from the United States and the Dallas Fed index

Today's session in the global markets will not be held in anticipation of macro data releases, as the calendar for today is very light. At the same time, however, the market opens the week aware that a series of important publications from the US, China and Europe await us in the coming days. Among them will be PCE inflation from the US, durable goods orders, private consumption data and industrial PMI readings from the US, European and Chinese economies.

Today on the calendar, attention will focus on data from new home sales in the US, the regional Fed index from the Dallas (Texas) region and a speech by Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank. The market expects the monthly growth rate of U.S. home sales to slow noticeably (but still be higher y/y), and the Dallas regional index to show a strong improvement, although it will remain at 'negative' levels.
