- Good session for the US dollar, EURUSD falls below 1.0100
- EUR and GBP almost 1% below the dash against the USD
- Stock indices from Europe ended the session higher, correcting slightly yesterday's discount, however, the increases were limited, the DAX added 0.52%, while the FTSE100 gained 0.35% and the CAC 40 closed the day 0.45% higher
- Worse data from the US housing market, secondary market home sales in July were 20.2% lower than a year earlier (this is the lowest annual growth rate since May 2020)
- The number of new U.S. jobless claims came in slightly below expectations, (the labor market appears strong)
- Of other data, the Philly Fed index came in better than expected, coming in at 6.2 points, against a previous reading of -12.3 and against expectations of 5 points
- Indices in the US started trading with slight declines, currently the Dow Jones is trading 0.3% lower, the S&P500 is in the regions of the benchmark, and the Nasdaq is adding 0.1%
- After 6 pm BST, Fed member Bullard said that it is still far too early to speculate on interest rate cuts, and that he favors a 75bp hike in September
- On Thursday, we could observe mixed sentiment in the crypto market, Bitcoin is oscillating in the evening hours in the region of the benchmark level at $23,340, nevertheless, it seems that until the price returns above $25,000, supply has the upper hand
- In crude oil, there was a rebound today after the recent declines, with gains on WTI and Brent reaching almost 5%, OIL is currently trading near $91, and OIL.WTI at $97.40
- The price of gold fell below $1,760 due to the stronger USD, and silver lost more than 1% and is trading at $19.5
The GBPUSD currency pair continues to move within the downtrend. According to the Overbalance methodology, sellers have dominated here for a long time. Today, after crossing the support at 1.2080, the discount has taken a turn for the worse, and the next support at 1.1940 is currently being tested. If this level is also negated, the discount could deepen towards the recent minima at 1.1800. Source: xStation5
