• The pandemic shows no signs of slowing down. The number of new cases continues to increase rapidly on all continents. As new infections increase, so does the death toll. Within last nine days number of fatalities increased by 10,000 in the United States.

• India, the country hardest hit in Asia by the coronavirus pandemic, reported today record number of 62,538 new infections. In total number of cases in the country surpassed two million.

• On Thursday, Mexico's health ministry reported 6,590 new confirmed infections and 819 additional fatalities, bringing the total in the country to 462,690 confirmed cases and 50,517 fatalities. The virus is spreading quickly; just over two weeks ago, it reported 40,000 deaths.

• Poland reported 809 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, the sixth record daily rise in two weeks, but Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin ruled out a new nationwide lockdown.

• Africa's confirmed cases of COVID-19 have surpassed 1 million, a Reuters tally showed on Thursday. South Africa - which is the world's fifth worst-hit nation and makes up more than half of sub-Saharan Africa's case load - has recorded so far 538,184 cases, the health ministry said on Thursday.
