- DAX companies rise ahead of key US data (December CPI at 1:30 PM GMT)
- HelloFresh gains 6%; Wakcker-Chemie and Bayer gain almost 3%
- Aixtron, SUESS MicroTec and CTS Eventim under sellers pressure
- Germany's 2024 GDP falls -0.2% YoY; in line with expectations
German stock market sentiment is solid today, with most indexes on the Old Continent posting gains. Investors are bracing for the CPI inflation reading from the US, where prices are expected to rise 0.4% m/m in December, compared to 0.3% m/m in November and 3.3% y/y. A rise above forecasts could put downward pressure on the indexes, but lower-than-expected data could provide markets with considerable relief with the prospect of taking the DE40 to new highs.
DE40 (D1 interval)
The DE40 continues its upward momentum, with the resistance zone at 20600 points now key. A strong candlestick formation on the daily interval makes a retest of historical maxima likely.

News from companies
According to media reports, Germany is looking into the possibility of reselling shares in German energy company Uniper. In addition to an anonymous Canadian fund (possibly Brookfield), Abu Dhabi-based Taqa and Norwegian energy and oil giant Equinor are also said to be interested, with Germany currently holding more than 99% of the shares in the company, which it saved from bankruptcy in 2022, following the energy crisis in Europe. Goldman Sachs is an advisor to Uniper's board. Germany is working with UBS bank and Roland Berger to find a buyer and consider options for divesting its stake in the strategic energy company. Uniper's shares are gaining almost 4% on these reports.
