Lira deepens its rout as Trump adds fuel to the flames

The Turkish lira is the hottest topic across financial markets today. It broke above 6.00 per dollar this morning, and then yet deepened its rout. The currency reached its another record low after the US President Donald Trump said that he has authorized a doubling of tariffs on steel and aluminium with respect to Turkey. The rates will be 50% and 20% respectively. Following the news the USDTRY is trading above 6.42 being up almost 14% today.
