BREAKING: USD weakens after PPI and claims data

  • The number of Americans filling for unemployment benefits was  0.262 million in the week ended August 6, compared to 0.260 million reported in the previous week. Today’s reading came in slightly below market expectations of 0.263 million. 
  • Continuing claims reading, which lags initial jobless claims data by one week, increased to 1.428million from 1.416 million, while analysts expected a decrease to 1.407 million. 
  • Producer Prices in the US decreased to 9.80 %YoY in July from 11.3% in the previous month and below/market expectations of 10.4%.
  • Producer prices for final demand in the US excluding foods and energy decreased to 7.60% year-on-year in July, following a 8.2% increase in June and in line with market expectations.

EURUSD bounced off the 1.0325 support and if current sentiment prevail, pair may be heading towards next support resistance level at 1.0370. Source:xStation5
