Economic calendar: PMI day!

07:39 23 September 2022
  • European indices set for more or less flat opening

  • Flash PMIs from Europe and the United States in focus

  • Speeches from central bankers, including Fed Chair Powell and SNB President Jordan

Futures markets point to a more or less flat opening of the European cash session today. Moods were poor during the Asian session but look to have calmed a bit ahead of the European opening. Marathon of central bank decisions scheduled for this week ended but it does not mean that there are no interesting releases scheduled for today. Flash PMIs from Europe and United States are key points in today's calendar. Apart from PMIs, speeches from central bankers may also trigger some volatility on the FX market. While Fed Chair Powell is expected to speak at 7:00 pm BST, he will only deliver opening remarks on 'Fed listens' event and therefore may touch on monetary policy or economy in detail.

8:15 am BST - France, flash PMIs for September.
