US Inflation Rate Above Forecasts

Annual inflation rate in the US increased 1 % in July from 0.6% in June and above analysts’ expectations of 0.8%. It is the highest reading in four months as businesses reopened after the coronavirus lockdown.
 
Meantime US core consumer price inflation rate, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, increased to 1.6 % year-on-year in July  from 1.2% in the previous month and above market expectations of 1.1 %. It was the highest rate since April 2020.
EURUSD saw relatively small reaction to today’s data releases. The most popular currency pair continued to trade around 1.1765 level. Source: xStation5
