US Initial Jobless Claims and Philly Fed Index

The number unemployment claims edged down by 4 thousand to 211 thousand in the week ended March 7th from the previous week’s revised level of 215 thousand and compared with market expectations of 218 thousand. The 4-week moving average was 214,000, an increase of 1,250 from the previous week's revised average. According to unadjusted data, the biggest declines were seen New York (-17,093), Ohio (-3,439) and Georgia (-1,129) while the largest rises were reported in California (+2,199), Texas (1,717) and Washington (1,166). Meantime, continuing jobless claims increased by 11 thousand to 1,722 thousand.

Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing Index in the United States dropped to -12.70 points in March from 36.70 points in February of 2020.
