BREAKING: NFP report above expectations, US500 gains

The NFP report for the month of October has just been released. Long-awaited data from the United States turned out to beat market expectations as the headline nonfarm payrolls rose 638k against expected 600k. Below we present some key figures:

  • Change in non-farm payrolls: 638k (vs exp. 600k)

  • Change in private nonfarm payrolls: 906k (vs exp. 690k)

  • Unemployment rate: 6.9% (vs exp. 7.7%)

  • Wage growth: 4.5% YoY (vs exp. 4.6% YoY)

US500 tends to gains shortly after the release. The index is approaching the 3,500 pts mark now. The US dollar caught a bid as well. Source: xStation5
