- Continuing claims reading, which lags initial jobless claims data by one week, rose to 1,437 million from 1,428 million, while analysts expected a increase to 1.438 million.
- The Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing Index unexpectedly increased to 6.2 in August from -12.3 in July, well above market expectations of -5.0.
