Economic calendar: Industrial production data and Powell’s speech

  • Industrial production data from European countries to be released in the morning

  • US PPI inflation expected to stay unchanged in September

  • Fed Chairman Powell to deliver a speech in the evening, Q&A session will follow

Tuesday is another day in a row that lacks key readings in the calendar. Most important readings of the week will be released in the second half of the week. Nevertheless, data scheduled for release today may spur some short-term moves. Industrial production from Germany (7:00 am BST), Spain (8:00 am BST) and Sweden (8:30 am BST) as well as Hungarian CPI (8:00 am BST) are among readings scheduled for the European session. Canadian housing market for August data will be released in the early afternoon with housing starts (1:15 pm BST) expected to increase and building permits (1:30 pm BST) forecasted to decline on a monthly basis. PPI inflation for September (1:30 pm BST) is the only important reading from the US scheduled for today and it is expected to remain unchanged at 1.8% YoY. As always on Tuesdays, API report on crude oil stockpiles will be released at 9:40 pm BST.
