Economic calendar: NFP to show further slowdown

  • Labour market data from US and Canada

  • CVS Health and Marriott to report earnings before Wall Street session

The US presidential race still has not been called but it is becoming increasingly likely that Joe Biden will take the White House after he managed to significantly narrow its loss against Trump in Pennsylvania and Georgia. While it may take time to confirm final results amid Trump's lawsuit barrage, it is very likely that the race will be called today.

Apart from that, investors will tune into labour market data from the United States and Canada. NFP report is expected to show further slowdown in jobs market recovery. Similar report is expected in Canada.

8:00 am GMT - Spain, industrial production for September. Expected: -3.8% YoY. Previous: -5.7% YoY

9:00 am GMT - Italy, retail sales for September. Expected: -1.4% MoM. Previous: +8.2% MoM

1:30 pm GMT - US, NFP report for October.

  • Non-farm payrolls. Expected: 600k. Previous: 661k

  • Unemployment rate. Expected:7.6%. Previous: 7.9%

  • Wage growth. Expected: 4.6% YoY. Previous: 4.7% YoY

1:30 pm GMT - Canada, labour market report for October.

  • Employment change. Expected: 100k. Expected: 378.2k

  • Unemployment rate. Expected: 9%. Previous: 9%
