Markets are starting Thursday’s session in a mood of cautious optimism. The relative calm in the Strait of Hormuz and the slowdown in the rise in US bond yields have given the stock markets some breathing space, though investors are awaiting this afternoon’s batch of data from the US economy.
Key figures and events of the session (Thursday, 3 September 2026):
-
08:30 – 09:00 | Switzerland (CPI & GDP): A key set of figures for the Swiss franc (CHF). We will see the CPI inflation figures for August and the GDP figures for the second quarter, which will shape expectations regarding the SNB’s forthcoming decisions.
-
09:15 – 10:30 | Eurozone and the UK (PMI indices for services): A series of final readings from the services sector (Spain, Germany, the Eurozone, the UK). These indices will show whether European services are still holding up well despite the restrictive policies of central banks.
-

-
16:00 | USA (ISM Services Index – Event of the Day): Release of the ISM index for the non-manufacturing sector, along with the price and employment sub-indices. This is a key economic indicator that will have a direct impact on volatility in the EUR/USD exchange rate and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices.
