BREAKING: UK Retail Sales higher than expected, GBPUSD slightly gains after data

  • UK Retail Sales (MoM) (Mar): Actual 0.4% vs Forecast -0.3% vs Previous 1.0%

  • UK Retail Sales (YoY) (Mar): Actual 2.6% vs Forecast 1.8% vs Previous 2.2%

  • UK Core Retail Sales (MoM) (Mar): Actual 0.5% vs Forecast -0.4% vs Previous 1.0%

  • UK Core Retail Sales (YoY) (Mar): Actual 3.3% vs Forecast 2.2% vs Previous 2.2%

 

Office for National Statistics highlights: Clothing and outdoor retailers reported that good weather boosted sales (+3.7 MoM). These increases were partly offset by falls in supermarket sales.

 

GBPUSD has gained after the data release.
