The US economy advanced an annualized 7.0% on quarter in Q4 2021, slightly higher than 6.9% in the advance estimate and in line with market forecasts.
The number of Americans filling for unemployment benefits was 0.232 million in the week ended February 19, compared to 0.248 million reported in the previous week. Today’s reading came in below market expectations of 0.235 million.
Continuing claims reading, which lags initial jobless claims data by one week, dropped to 1.476 million, while analysts expected a decrease to 1.580 million.
