  • China inflation reading surprises with reading below expectations

The first full-fledged trading session after the Christmas break brings relatively good sentiment. Most European indices are gaining today, nevertheless investors remain uncertain about the macroeconomic situation all the time. First of all, attention is currently focused on the CPI inflation reading from the US scheduled for tomorrow. Today a similar reading was presented by China, where the price level of goods and services showed a decline below forecasts.

News:

Morgan Stanley downgraded its recommendation on Covestro (1COV.DE) shares due to uncertainty over the market rebound. The rating was downgraded to "equal-weight" from its previous "overweight" rating. The stock, despite the downgraded recommendation, is currently gaining nearly 1%.

Much better behaved today are HelloFresh (HFG.DE) shares, which are gaining nearly 3.5% against JP Morgan's upgraded rating. The rating was raised from "underwight" to "overweight." As the bank's analysts added, space for declines is limited at the moment, and the company's valuation is relatively attractive.
