HelloFresh gains, Lufthansa drops
European stock markets launched today's trading higher following an upbeat Asian session. However, moods started to deteriorate after Austria announced a nationwide lockdown. Gains were erased and almost all European blue chips indices are now trading below yesterday's closing prices.
Europe is slowly getting back into lockdown. Germany announced a set of measures that are aimed at slowing growth in Covid-19 cases as well as encouraging people to take vaccine shots. Only vaccinated people will be allowed to enter bars, restaurants or public events in areas with high hospitalization rates. The German health minister said that he cannot rule out that a full lockdown will be imposed. Austria announced that the country will head into a nationwide 22-day lockdown starting from Monday. More strict measures were also imposed in Greece, Slovakia, Czech Republic and the Netherlands. It looks like Covid-19 may become a top mover on the financial markets at the turn of 2021 and 2022.

DE30 managed to reach a fresh all-time high at the start of the European trading session today. However, bulls failed to hold onto these gains and the index started to erase gains. Downward move accelerated following a lockdown announcement from Austria. DE30 plunged and reached a daily low near 16,140 pts before climbing back towards the 16,200 pts area. 38.2% retracement of a recent upward impulse in the 16,175 pts area is a key support to watch as it is also marked with the lower limit of the Overbalance structure. Should the index finish today's trading below this hurdle, technical outlook for the next week would become more bearish.
