Economic calendar: CB Consumer Confidence, Big Tech earnings

Futures markets point to a slightly lower opening of the European cash session today. Asian session was mostly upbeat with indices from South Korea, Australia and Japan gaining. Chinese equities continued to plunge amid threat of significant regulatory action.

The day ahead looks interesting but key events - earnings releases from Apple, Alphabet and Microsoft - will happen in the evening, after the close of the Wall Street session. When it comes to macro releases, investors will be offered durable goods orders data from the United States as well as the Conference Board Consumer Confidence index. The latter is expected to show the first drop of 2021.

9:40 pm BST - API report on oil inventories. Expected: -3 mb. Previous: 0.8 mb
