Economic calendar: Central banks in focus this week

  • European markets set for lower opening

  • Decisions from FOMC, BoJ and BoE this week

Futures markets point to a lower opening of the European cash session today. Markets are being pressured by fears that a looming default in the Chinese real estate sector may trigger a domino effect. This is one of the biggest risk factors to watch in the days and weeks ahead. Risk-off moods can be spotted on equities, commodities and currencies.

While today's economic calendar is quite empty, there are plenty of releases to watch in the later part of the week. Investors will be offered rate decisions from FOMC, BoJ, BoE, CBRT and Norges Bank. Decisions from FOMC and BoE will be the most closely watched. Apart from that, oil may get to move on the regular inventories data.
