Economic calendar: Fed Chair Powell speech

• Fed Chairman Powell testifies before Congress for three straight days
• Bank Holiday in Japan
 
This week starts with Fed Chair Jerome Powell speaking on Monday and testifying Tuesday through Thursday, followed by several Fed speakers. Japanese markets are on holiday today and also tomorrow, so Asia Pacific trading is mired by thinner liquidity conditions. During the week, flash PMI surveys for the US, UK, Eurozone, Japan and Australia will be keenly watched, while central banks in China, Turkey, Mexico and New Zealand will be deciding on monetary policy. Other key data to follow include: US existing and new home sales and the weekly jobless report; UK and Eurozone consumer confidence.

1:30 pm BST – Canada New Housing Price Index MoM (AUG). Expected: 0.2%. Previous: 0.4%
3:00 pm BST – Fed Chair Powell speaks
5:00 pm BST -  FOMC Member Brainard speaks
