Economic calendar: Focus on ECB speakers and German data

  • German IFO index expected to make a small jump higher

  • Number of ECB members scheduled to speak today

  • Hewlett Packard (HPE.US) to report earnings after market close

9:00 am GMT - Germany, IFO Business Climate for November. German IFO print is the only noteworthy reading from major EU economies scheduled for today. The index remained unchanged at 94.6 pts in October. A small increase to 95 pts is expected in November. The increase is expected to be lead by business expectations subindex as current assessment subindex is forecasted to be little changed.

9:00 am GMT - Poland, retail sales for October. Polish retail sales saw a massive 4% MoM decline in September. Decline was in fact expected but not so steep. Sales are expected to rebound in October and mark a 5.4% MoM increase.

1:30 pm GMT - Canada, wholesale inventories. Expected: +0.4% MoM, previous: -1.2% MoM
