Economic calendar: US data amid thin trading

7:35 AM 19 April 2019

Summary:
- Majority of the stock markets will remain shut today
- FX and cryptocurrency markets continue to operate
- US housing data at 1:30 pm CET

Trading on Friday is going to be exceptionally thin as stock markets in many countries of the world will remain shut for the Good Friday holiday. Apart from that, trading on a lot of commodity markets will not be resumed until Tuesday. However, investors are still able to trade on the FX and cryptocurrency markets. As one could expect economic calendar is quite empty as well. Data from the US housing market for March will be released at 1:30 pm CET. Housing starts are expected to rise 5.7% MoM while building permits should increase 0.7% MoM. While housing market data rarely triggers major swings on the USD market today could be different as limited liquidity may result in elevated volatility.

EURUSD took a major dive yesterday as poor European PMIs pressured common currency and strong US retail sales boosted greenback. The pair tries to recoup some losses on Friday’s morning but scale of moves is minor. Source: xStation5
