France reported a record daily number of coronavirus cases on Thursday. The country’s officials informed about 58,046 new infections, the total number of cases now stands at 1,601,367. French health minister said that the second wave of coronavirus infections tearing across France would be more severe than the first experienced in the spring if it is allowed to continue spreading at the current rate. Even though the country will enter week two of its second lockdown tomorrow, the number of new infections is still on the rise. More than 85% of France’s intensive care beds are said to be occupied. Still, it is worth to point out that the number of daily deaths caused by the virus is well below levels seen during the first wave.

France's new daily cases are still on the rise despite the national lockdown imposed a week ago. However, the mortaility rate is much lower than during spring (as it is the case in many countries). Souce: Worldometers.info
