Immersion (IMMR.US) is a NASDAQ-listed company since 1999 that holds several thousand patents related to haptic technology. Haptics is central to the intensively developed AR and VR technology trends in the Metaverse:

  • Haptic technology is the use of tactile sensations to stimulate the sense of touch in a user experience when interacting with technological infrastructure such as joysticks. The creators want metaverse to affect all user senses and this will not happen without the use of haptic solutions on a massive scale;
  • The company filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms, which it accused of stealing six patents. Immersion alleges that its intellectual property is used in the popular Meta Quest 2 platform, which uses virtual and augmented reality systems. Immersion wants to prohibit Meta Platforms from continuing such practices and is seeking infringement fees;
  • The company's first CEO was Louis Rosenberg, one of the most 'prolific' inventors of new technology in the 21st century, who has patented hundreds of inventions. Rosenberg currently serves as CEO of Unanimous AI, which is working on so-called 'swarm intelligence'. Unanimous algorithms predicted the results of the 2022 Oscars, being wrong in only two cases. The current CEO role at Immersion is held by Francis Jose.
  • The company in the past has won legal disputes against Apple and Sony also regarding intellectual property. Immersion's technology is used, among others, in the popular PlayStation consoles. The company has also worked with Microsoft in the past to build early DirectX systems;
  • The VR trend was gaining popularity in the 1990s when SEGA was very involved in development of this technology. However, the internet revolution emerged, which in turn 'sucked out' the popularity of the VR trend, which was in limbo until 2014 when Facebook decided to acquire Oculus, a company creating VR platforms for $4 billion.
  • Haptic technology has interesting growth prospects and its use is increasing every year in the  gaming, automotive, space and medical sectors;
  • Immersion reported a solid quarterly report recently, which pushed its shares prices higher. The company reported a record high net margin and has a healthy balance sheet. The company is also conducting a share buyback program and strongly believes in business success, amid the growth of haptic technology and the Metaverse trend.

Immersion (IMMR.US), D1 interval. The company has been in a downtrend since the beginning of the year, but the scale of declines is relatively smaller compared to other technology companies. Nevertheless buyers launched a recovery move in mid-May and price is currently testing major resistance at $5.75, which is marked with 78.6% fibonacci retracement of the last downward wave.
