Morning wrap (15.04.2022)

  • US indices finished yesterday's trading lower. S&P 500 dropped 1.21%, Dow Jones moved 0.33% lower and Nasdaq finished down 2.14%. Russell 2000 dropped 0.99%

  • Stocks in Asia traded mostly lower on the final trading day of the week. Nikkei dropped 0.1%, Kospi moved 0.6% lower while indices from China traded mixed

  • US President Joe Biden said that he is ready to visit Kyiv in the near future

  • The People's Bank of China decided not to change monetary policy settings today, leaving the medium-term lending facility rate unchanged at 2.85%. Some economists expected that PBoC will loosen policy to support economy amid current weakness

  • China announced that it will conduct military drills around Taiwan today in response to "wrong signals" sent by the United States. A group of US lawmakers arrived in Taiwan yesterday evening. Visit wasn't announced earlier

  • Cryptocurrencies are trading higher. Bitcoin gains 0.5% while Ethereum trades 0.7% higher. Ripple is top performer, trading almost 8% higher on the day

  • USD and CAD are the best performing major currencies while JPY and NZD lag the most

Ripple continues recovery after defending the 0.70 support zone earlier this week. An attempt of breaking above the 50-session moving average (green line) was made this morning but, so far, the coin failed to break above. If it succeeds, the next resistance to watch can be found in the 0.90 area. Source: xStation5
