  • US indices booked strong gains yesterday on the back of vaccine news from Moderna. S&P 500 finished 1.16% higher, Dow Jones added 1.60% and Nasdaq jumped 0.80%. Russell 2000 closed 2.14% higher

  • Stocks in Asia are trading mixed. S&P/ASX 200 and Nikkei gain while Kospi and indices from China drop

  • DAX futures point to a lower opening of the European session

  • According to The Sun report, UK Brexit negotiator Frost told Boris Johnson that trade deal with EU may be announced early next week

  • Austria begins a 3-week national lockdown today. A mask mandate has been announced in Iowa. Scotland may announced new coronavirus restrictions later today

  • Pfizer plans to launch a pilot immunisation programme in 4 US states. Programme is aimed at preparing planning, deployment and administration process

  • According to US media, Trump considered a military strike against Iranian nuclear facilities last week but his advisors explain to him it risks big conflict in the region

  • Tesla will join S&P 500 index ahead of the Wall Street session on December 21st

  • Agricultural commodities advance along with oil. Precious metals pull back with palladium and platinum being top laggards

  • GBP and JPY are top moving major currencies while USD and AUD lag the most. However, trading ranges are narrow
