University of Michigan Sentiment for May:

  • University of Michigan Final: 59.2, Forecast: 57.8 Previous: 63.5

Inflation expectations:

  • 1-yr: 4,2% Forecast: 4,5% Previous: 4,5%
  • 5-yr: 3,1% Forecast: 3.1% Previous: 3,2%

Long-term inflation expectations came in lower than last reading of 3.2%. Lower than expected inflation and lower consumer sentiments suggest mixed conditions for the stock market. Consumer sentiment came lower than previous reading but higher than expected.
