Russell 2000 (US2000) is the best performer today in the ranking of major US indices. The small companies index was losing a lot amid yesterday's market panic, but it quickly started to recover. While the S&P 500 and DJIA are currently trading lower, the Russell 2000 is gaining almost 1%. Moods were not deteriorated even by the weak reading of CB consumer confidence for December, which fell significantly below expectations. Investors are still betting heavily on small companies, and since the beginning of November the index has already gained nearly 30%.
US2000 rebounded yesterday from the support zone around 1885 points. Buyers are not slowing down despite worsening household sentiment. The historical highs (1990 points) are currently slightly more than 5 points away. Source: xStation5
