USD sees little reaction to PPI and claims data

  • The number of Americans filling for unemployment benefits was  0.244 million in the week ended July 9, compared to 0.235 million reported in the previous week. Today’s reading came in above market expectations of 0.236 million. 
  • Continuing claims reading, which lags initial jobless claims data by one week, dropped to 1.331 million from 1.375 million, while analysts expected an increase to 1.383 million. 
  • Producer Prices in the US increased to 11.30 %YoY in June from 10.8% in the previous month, above market expectations of 10.7%.
  • Producer prices for final demand in the US excluding foods and energy decreased slightly to 8.2% year-on-year in June, from  8.3% gain in May and above market expectations of a 8.1% rise.

EURUSD barely reacted to today's data release. The main currency pair is still trading slighlty above parity. Source: xStation5
