Daily Summary: calm start to the week as Wall Street remains close 📣

7:57 PM 19 February 2024
  • The first session of this week in international stock markets is marked by stagnation. A sparse macroeconomic data publication calendar and a bank holiday in the United States effectively dampen market activity from both the demand and supply sides.

  • The German DAX lost 0.15%, the French CAC40 ended trading at Friday's closing levels, and the British FTSE 100 gained 0.22%.

  • Prices for CO2 emission permits in Europe are falling below 55 EUR per ton, and today the contract for December is trading with about a 6.8% discount.

  • On the FX market, the New Zealand dollar is currently performing the best. The Swiss franc, on the other hand, is under clear downward pressure. The EURUSD pair is currently trading below the 1.0780 zone.

  • According to the latest CFTC data, investor positioning in short-selling transactions has increased, which today is driving silver prices down by nearly 1.8%.

  • Bitcoin is consolidating around 52,000 USD after recent dynamic increases. In the cryptocurrency market, we are now observing a capital transfer towards smaller projects, including Ethereum and its ecosystem.

  • Ethereum is gaining over 2.00%, approaching the 3,000 USD level, and Polygon (Matic) is testing the 1 USD level.

  • The announcement of the new Sora model by ChatGPT was a catalyst for starting another wave of increases among cryptocurrency projects related to AI. During today's session, the leaders in gains are projects such as Bittensor (TAO), SingularityNET, and WorldCoin - a project led by Sam Altman (founder of ChatGPT), whose FDV exceeded 70 billion USD.
