Economic calendar: Biden to speak on economic stimulus

  • Biden to propose economic stimulus plan on 0:15 am GMT

European markets are expected to launch today's cash session slightly higher. Joe Biden is expected to make a speech on his economic stimulus plan 15 minutes past midnight GMT time. According to media reports, he will present a stimulus package worth $2 trillion. Apart from that, investors will be offered speeches from 4 Fed members, including Chairman Powell. When it comes to data releases, German 2020 GDP report, ECB minutes and US jobless claims can be seen as potential risk events for markets.

9:00 am GMT - Germany, 2020 GDP report. Expected: -5.1% YoY. Previous: 0.6% YoY

12:30 pm GMT - ECB minutes.

1:30 pm GMT - US, jobless claims. Expected: 780k. Previous: 787k

3:30 pm GMT - EIA natural gas storage. Expected: -129 bcf. Previous: -130 bcf

0:15 am GMT - Biden speaks on vaccination plan and economic stimulus.
