Stock markets in Europe are set for a higher opening of today's cash session. Markets seem to catch a breath after yesterday's massive sell-off. There are some noteworthy events scheduled for today. DOE report is set to be released at 3:30 pm BST and may boost volatility on the oil market. Apart from that, heads of 4 major central banks will take part in a panel discussion at ECB Forum today - ECB Lagarde, Fed Powell, BoJ Kuroda and BoE Bailey. Traders should also follow newsflow carefully as Chinese Evergrande is scheduled to make a $45.2 million coupon payment today. So far, there was no news on whether it was paid out or not.

8:00 am BST - Spain, HICP inflation for September (flash). Expected: 3.3% YoY. Previous: 3.3% YoY

3:00 pm BST - US, pending home sales for August. Expected: 1.1% MoM. PRevious: -1.8% MoM

4:45 pm BST - ECB Forum panel with Lagarde, Bailey, Kuroda and Powell

3:30 pm BST - DOE report on oil inventories.

  • Oil inventories. Expected: -2.3 mb

  • Gasoline inventories. Expected: +1.3 mb

  • Distillate inventories. Expected: -1.6 mb
