Economic calendar: Powell's semi-annual testimony in focus

  • Futures point to slightly higher opening of European cash session
  • The main macro event of the day will be Powell's interim testimony before government committees
  • Over the course of the day, investors will also hear comments from FED Bowman and FED Barr 

The start of Tuesday's session in the stock markets may bring moderate gains in most stock indexes. This comes after a relatively good session in Asia, where Japan's Nikkei added more than 2% and thus broke out to new historic highs. Investors' attention will turn today to corporate news and Powell's testimony in Congress, where comments on the Reserve's further decisions regarding the path of interest rates may come.
