Economic calendar: US PCE data, Fed speakers

  • European indices set to open higher

  • US core PCe seen decelerating slightly in January

  • Mester and Bullard among today's Fed speakers

European index futures point to a slightly higher opening of the cash session. DAX futures currently trade around 60 points above yesterday's cash close. Oil gains while precious metals trade more or less flat amid USD strengthening. JPY is also on the rise following a speech from BoJ Chief nominee Ueda. Major cryptocurrencies are experiencing small moves today with Bitcoin trading 0.2% lower and Ethereum adding 0.2%

While another interesting week on the markets is drawing to a close, there are still some reports scheduled left for this week that may trigger market moves. Key macro event of the day will be the release of the US data pack for January that will include core PCE data. Traders should also keep in mind that there is a number of Fed members scheduled to deliver speeches in the afternoon and some of them are top Fed hawks, like Bullard and Mester.

  • PCE Core. Expected: 4.3% YoY. Previous: 4.4% YoY

  • Personal Income. Expected: 0.9% MoM. Previous: 0.2% MoM

  • Personal Spending. Expected: 1.2% MoM. Previous: -0.2% MoM

3:00 pm GMT - US, new home sales for January. Expected: 620k. Previous: 616k

3:00 pm GMT - US, University of Michigan consumer sentiment for February (final). First release: 66.4
