Economic calendar: US PPI data and Wall Street banks' results

7:48 AM 12 January 2024
  • Futures point to higher opening of European cash session
  • Attention turns to PPI data from the US and the WASDE report
  • Wall Street's largest banks will report their quarterly results today

Futures point to a higher opening for the last cash session in Europe this week. This comes after a relatively mixed session in APAC markets, which reacted to slightly better macro data from China, further escalation of problems in the Middle East, and expectations of an uncertain election result in Taiwan.

On Friday's macro calendar, we can find CPI inflation data from France and Spain, the PPI report from the US, a speech by Kahkari from the FED and Lane from the ECB, and the US WASDE report, among others. In the stock market, investors' attention will be focused on the publication of financial results for the fourth quarter of 2023 of the largest banks listed on Wall Street.
