Morning wrap (09.02.2021)

•    US indices finished yesterday's session higher. The Dow Jones climbed 0.8%, S&P 500 rose 0.7% and Nasdaq gained 1.0%. All three major indexes reached new record highs

•    Positive moods prevail in the Asian markets today. Nikkei rose 0.4%, Kospi added 0.50%  and Hang Seng gained 0.25%. S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.8%

•    DAX futures point to a slightly lower opening of the European session

•    Japan's nominal cash earnings fell 3.2% yoy in December, the most in 12 years

•    Business confidence in Australia jumped to 10 in January from an upwardly revised 5 in December, well above its long-run average

•    Chinese officials reportedly have met representatives from Tesla over reports from consumers about battery fires, unexpected acceleration, and failures in over-the-air software updates.

•    Cable broke above the January highs and hit the best levels since 2018 amid broad US dollar weakness

•    Bitcoin is trading above $47,000 level

•    NZD and JPY are leaders among major currencies while CAD and USD lag the most
