- The New Year’s week is dominated by the US calendar positions
- Chinese PMIs last key figures to watch this year
- All markets closed on Wednesday, Japan on holidays between Wednesday and Friday
Turn of the year flows often lead to intriguing moves on the markets as liquidity conditions vary. On top of this there are some interesting reports that traders should watch this week!
- Monday – US Chicago PMI (2:45pm GMT)
- Tuesday – PMIs from China (1am GMT), US Conference Board sentiment index (3pm)
- Wednesday – markets closed
- Thursday – Caixin PMI in China (1:45am GMT), final manufacturing PMIs in Europe
- Friday – US ISM manufacturing (3pm GMT), FOMC minutes (7pm GMT)
Macroeconomic-wise the Chinese PMIs could be the most telling as flash PMIs from Europe showed stagnation in December. Having said that Friday positions are the potential market-movers, especially FOMC minutes that will be released on a very bizarre timing of Friday’s evening.
USDJPY has reacted to the resistance zone. This week will be important for the USD as there are many released plus the FOMC minutes on Friday! Source: xStation5
