Economic calendar: Earnings reports from IBM and Goldman Sachs

Futures markets point to a higher opening of the European cash session today. Moods on the global markets are positive at the beginning of a new week. Apart from equities, gains can also be spotted on the commodities markets. Safe haven currencies, like USD or CHF, are pulling back. Big upward moves, in some cases double-digit percentage, can be observed on the cryptocurrency market.

Economic calendar for today is rather empty with only some second-tier data scheduled. However, neither of these releases tends to have an impact on the markets. Earnings calendar for today looks more interesting with releases from Goldman Sachs and IBM, among others.

Things get more interesting later into the week with rate decisions from PBoC, ECB, CBRT and BoJ scheduled as well as earnings from Tesla or Netflix, among others.

1:00 pm BST - Poland, core CPI inflation for June. Expected: 9.3% YoY. Previous: 8.5% YoY

1:15 pm BST - Canada, housing starts for June. Expected: 266.7k. Previous: 287.3k

  • Friday - UK retail sales for June, Canada retail sales for May, flash PMIs from Europe and US
