Economic calendar: Focus on ISM and jobless claims

European futures point to a higher opening of today's cash session following strong gains on Wall Street yesterday. A set of revised services PMIs for August will be released throughout the day but their impact on the markets is unlikely to be significant. Jobless claims data 1:30 pm BST and non-manufacturing ISM at 3:00 pm BST are key releases of the day. Jobless claims will be on watch following yesterday's ADP report that hinted at slowdown in labour market recovery.

8:15 am BST - Spain, services PMI for August. Expected: 48. Previous: 51.9

8:45 am BST - Italy, services PMI for August. Expected: 49.2. Previous: 51.6

8:50 am BST - France, services PMI for August (final). First release: 51.9

8:55 am BST - Germany, services PMI for August (final). First release: 50.8

9:00 am BST - Euro area, services PMI for August (final). First release: 50.1

9:30 am BST - UK, services PMI for August (final). First release: 60.1

10:00 am BST - Euro area, retail sales for July. Expected: +3.3% YoY. Previous: +1.3% YoY

1:30 pm BST - US, trade balance for July. Expected: -$58 billion

1:30 pm BST - US, jobless claims. Expected: 950k

2:45 pm BST - US, services PMI for August (final). First release: 54.8

3:00 pm BST - US, ISM non-manufacturing for August. Expected: 57. Previous: 58.1
