Economic calendar: FOMC decision and Big Tech earnings

European stock markets are seen opening slightly below yesterday's cash close. Economic calendar looks empty during the European session but key market events are scheduled for today's afternoon and evening. FOMC will announce the rate decision at 7:00 pm GMT and Jerome Powell will hold a press conference at 7:30 pm GMT. Apart from that, 3 mega-cap companies will publish their quarterly reports after close of the US session - Apple, Facebook and Tesla.

9:00 am GMT - Poland, unemployment rate for December. Expected: 6.2%. Previous: 6.1%

1:30 pm GMT - US, durable goods order for December.

  • Headline. Expected: 0.9% MoM. Previous: 1% MoM

  • Ex-transportation. Expected: 0.5% MoM. Previous: 0.4% MoM

3:30 pm GMT - DOE report on oil inventories.

  • Oil inventories. Expected: 0.6 mb

  • Gasoline inventories. Expected: 1.7 mb

  • Distillate inventories. Expected: -0.18 mb

7:00 pm GMT - FOMC rate decision
