Economic calendar: German business sentiment and US Jobless claims

It’s a relatively busy day ahead on the economic calendar. German Ifo Business Climate index and SNB Interest Rate Decision will be the key releases of the European session. No changes in the benchmark interest rates are expected but the central bank is expected to provide updated economic projections. Meanwhile New Home Sales figures and Weekly Jobless Claims data will be on watch during US trading hours. Fed chairman Powell will start the third day of testimony, but investors expect today's speech to be almost identical to the recent ones.

9:00 am BST – German Ifo Business Climate (SEP). Expected: 93.8. Previous: 92.6
1:30 pm BST – US Weekly Jobless Claims. Expected: 843k. Previous: 860
3:00 pm BST – US New Home Sales MoM (AUG). Expected: 890K. Previous: 901K
